Lying flat
On my back
In the laundromat
Watching the clothes revolve
No one's there
Pull for air
But it's always there
And it doesn't care

When I was eight I stepped on a nail
If you looked at me now you couldn't tell
Some people are happy just the way they are

She walks in
Pale and thin
Puts her quarters in
Sits beside the boy
He is frail

You could almost see the nail
But he hides it well

When I was four I lived in the woods
The sky was yellow and the grass was good

Now they're gone
